As much as I like to cook, I also NEED grab-and-go meal options, especially for quick post-workout breakfasts and lunches. The idea of a protein shake or smoothie is appealing, but sometimes I just don’t have time or energy to bust out the NutriBullet. Enter: protein bars! I’ve tried them all, the tastiest to the most questionable. I’ll be the first to admit I’ll try almost any trendy fitness food, from super processed whey protein candybar-esque snacks to rare, organic fruits and powders.

I recently was given the opportunity to try out a sampler pack of Shanti Bars, and as a self-proclaimed bar aficionado, I happily agreed. I hadn’t heard of them before, but I was into the fact that they’re raw, organic, plant-based, free of processed sugars, and super nutrient dense. And they’re a women-owned business, created by two ladies with backgrounds in sports fitness. They’re also endorsed by Hope Solo, so I figured, hey, why not?

I didn’t go into these bars with any expectations, but guess what, turns out I love them! All of the flavors (named after their function: Recover, Boost, Longevity, etc.) are so unique and tasty, and I like that they offer a variety of protein and carb levels depending on when you’re eating them for (pre-workout, post-workout, maybe just a balanced snack, etc.). The stats on the bars vary, since they’re all made with different superfood ingredients, but take a look at this summary. Each bar contains:

  • 220 – 250 calories
  • 9 – 15g (natural) sugar
  • 9 – 15g fat
  • 7 – 17g protein

Another huge bonus: they offer minis! Sometimes I just need a quick protein boost after a sweat sesh and don’t want to consume a full bar’s worth of cals and carbs. The little minis are perfect. They also have pre-workout minis in my FAVORITE Shanti Bar flavor, Boost! (It’s coconutty and almondy and basically tastes like a healthy Almond Joy without the chocolate. I would eat these like candy.)

You can find Shanti Bars at Whole Foods, or order them online. I’m definitely adding these guys into my regular pre & post workout bar consumption schedule, along with my other beloved bars.

Shanti Bar sent me a sampler box and an assortment of minis, but these opinions and photos are real & all mine!
