Here are two things that I absolutely love:
1. Food & wine festivals
2. Asian food
Soooo guess who is super amped up about this weekend’s Far East Fest?! ME. Obviously.
Far East Fest is a brand new food festival in Austin, celebrating all of our city’s growing Asian communities through cuisine and community. Some of my favorite Asian restaurants in the city will be there: Sway, Wu Chow, Peached Tortilla, Fukumoto, Jenna’s, etc etc… and some community favorites who aren’t traditionally Asian were invited to come present their takes on authentic Asian food. One of the restaurants I work with, Chicon, was invited to participate and our culinary team jumped at the chance! Chicon will be serving up Aged Beef Chawanmushi with tobiko, thai basil, and black garlic salt… if you’re at the fest, be sure to stop by their table and grab a bite.
No food festival is complete without some tasty beverages, and Far East Fest is sponsored by Sapporo so there will be plenty of crispy Japanese beer to go around. Additional booze vendors will be available for purchase and/or serving up complimentary tastes.
So I’ll see you this Sunday, October 1st, right?! VIP starts at 12pm and General Admission starts at 1pm. Far East Fest takes place in the Statesman lot downtown, at 305. S Congress. Austin, TX 78704.
Get your tickets here and hey, use the code “EATCHICON” for $10 off!
A portion of festival proceeds will be donated to Caring For Cambodia.
