Austin Rose Wine Drinking Guide

Rosé. Or as I like to think of it, the water of life. (What? I don’t know.) Nothing makes me happier than a cold glass of a dry pink on a warm summer afternoon. Nothing, I tell you. Rosé is so important to my lifestyle and belief system that my incredible friends threw me a rosé-themed bachelorette party in one of my favorite places to drink in the sun (Palm Springs, duh!) last year. And yes, that balloon banner says A Time to Veil. Get it? Like I said, my friends are incredible.

Rose Bachelorette Party A Time to Kale

Besides Palm Springs, you know where else is a great place to drink rosé? Austin, of course. Our year-round warm weather lends itself perfectly to patios and chilled wine. While you can grab some vino almost anywhere in town, there are some spots that truly nail the rosé menu and chill vibes better than the rest, and those are the ones I’d like to honor in this rosé all day round-up.

My favorite rosé-sipping spots in the city:

Irene's Austin Rose Wine Party

Irene’s / Downtown / 506 West Ave
I. LOVE. IRENE’S. Everything about it is the best. They have still & sparkling rosé on tap for $7/glass or $28/jug. Irene’s has also been known to offer “rosé parties” where they release delicious bottles at great prices. Not only that but they have a freaking ROSÉ ALL DAY BRUNCH ON SATURDAYS. Sorry not sorry for the all-caps, this occasion calls for it. Saturday brunch offers $4 rosé draft and $6 rosé bubbles plus the menu theme is “biscuits and booze” aka you’ll have plenty of carb-y goodness to keep you from getting toooooo day-drunk. I would never get too day-drunk at Irene’s. Nope. Never.

Kitty Cohen's Austin Patio Rose Wine

Kitty Cohen’s / Eastside / 2211 Webberville Rd
There is nothing that is not perfect about Kitty Cohen’s. What did I do before this bar? I don’t even remember. Tropical, tacky-gorgeous patio vibes complete with a mini swimming pool and plenty of palms, there is no more rosé-appropriate place in Austin. Last time I was there, they were even offering darling little rosé cans along with glasses and bottles.

Forthright Cafe Austin Rose Wine

Forthright / Downtown / 35 Brazos St
Everything about Forthright is, well, just right. It’s the most lovely little spot with a carefully selected wine list and thoughtful offerings of soups, salads, baked goods, etc. for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I love their kale caesar or an avocado toast with a glass (or bottle) of rosé for a leisurely lunch with friends on a sunny afternoon.

Infinite Monkey Theorem Canned Rose Wine Austin

Infinite Monkey Theorem / South Austin / 121 Pickle Rd #110
Infinite Monkey is a Colorado-based urban winery that expanded to Austin, and I’m glad they did, because they make delicious rosé in a beautifully decorated (and dog-friendly!) warehouse in a fairly dead part of South Congress. Call or tweet their taproom to see what they’re currently serving, or look for their tasty canned rosé (I love wine in a can!!!) at local events and grocery stores.

Austin Patios Blue Dahlia Eastside Happy Hour

Blue Dahlia / Eastside / 1115 E. 11th St
As we already know, Blue Dahlia has one of my favorite patios around and also offers an amazing happy hour for wine lovers: $5 glasses, including rosé, and they aren’t skimping on the pours here. Paired with one of their fantastic cheese plates (also on happy hour special, yes!), this is one of the best ways to sip away a summer evening.

Apothecary Austin Rose Wine Happy Hour

Apothecary / Rosedale / 4800 Burnet Rd #450
A cozy little wine bar tucked away right on the hustle and bustle of Burnet, Apothecary has a nice rosé section and, like, Blue Dahlia, a great cheese plate. Order a flight, glass, or bottle, and you can’t go wrong with this thoughtful wine list. Oh, and, as the above picture teaches us: they have oysters! The only thing better than a rosé-fueled patio is an oyster-and-rosé-fueled patio.

Launderette Austin Rose Wine Happy Hour

Launderette / Eastside / 2115 Holly St
Everything about Launderette is cute, and nothing is cuter than rosé. Right? Sure. I’ve never ordered a wine, cocktail, or plate here I haven’t loved. (And those funfetti birthday cake ice cream cakes – again, toooo cute and a perfect pal for a glass of rosé!) Check out their (tragically short) happy hour Monday-Friday from 5:00-6:00pm.

Love rosé as much as I do? Impossible. Jk. Maybe. But if you are a fellow pink wine connoisseur and have a secret rosé watering hole in the Austin area, shoot me a comment below so I can add it to my collection!

This list is all my own “research” (aka day drinking) and opinions, and it’s also part of the 2017 Austin Food Blogger Alliance City Guide! Check out the link (or click the graphic below) for more boozy and delicious round-ups from Austin’s top food bloggers. Cheers y’all!
