There are many things I love in this life, and two of them are protein bars and Costco. Annnnd Costco sells protein bars en masse, so what more could a girl ask for? Well, RXBAR to come to Costco, for one thing. They’re one of my favorites (why? I’ll detail below) but for a long time I had to purchase them at the normal grocery store or order online and wait for delivery. Booooo. I know both of those options are fine, but come on. Luckily my good friends at RXBAR recently dropped a beautiful box of complimentary RXBARs in fancy blue packaging on my doorstep last month, along with some great news.

RXBAR Austin Costco

As the title of this blog reveals… surprise! Now RXBAR is indeed in Austin area Costcos and I am thrilled! Right now their Costco combo box is six Chocolate Sea Salt and six Peanut Butter Chocolate… two of my favorite RXBAR flavors. Each box is $17.79, breaking down to less than $1.50 per individual bar, a good deal and absolutely perfect for those January resets/detoxes that I know everyone (myself included) is on.

So, here’s why I love RXBAR. As mentioned, I’m into protein bars in general as a quick grab-and-go source of energy or post-workout fuel, but I know that some of them are full of artificial flavors, weird oils and preservatives, whey (dairy byproduct so it can cause bloating) etc etc… and yet I still eat them anyway knowing they’re not the most 100% clean protein I could be giving myself.

BUUUUT. Here is where RXBAR differs from the protein pack. As those simple lil’ labels clearly announce: no BS. No added sugar, no artificial flavors, no soy, no dairy, no gluten. Just natural whole foods. RXBARs get their protein from dried egg whites & nuts, and their sweetness from dates. This means they’re also quite chewy, a texture I happen to like. This also means they’re Paleo-friendly and Whole30-compliant (as long as you don’t choose any of the peanut varieties while you’re following that plan)! I’m following Whole30 this month but also omitting potatoes and allowing the occasional wine (SO YES I KNOW THIS MEANS IT’S NOT TRUE WHOLE30, don’t @ me) soooo having RXBARs on hand is perfect for my quick pre/post workout meals!

RXBAR Austin Costco

If you’re a Costco member, run, don’t walk, (or more realistically, get in your car and sit in traffic for a half hour) to your nearest Austin-area Costco to get your mitts on a box of two of these bad boys.

And if you’ve never tried RXBAR and want to sample a few flavors before committing, I do love both Peanut Butter Chocolate and Chocolate Sea Salt but also a huge fan of Chocolate Coconut, Chocolate Chip, and plain Peanut Butter.

RXBAR sent me a sample Costco box to check out, but as I’ve made abundantly clear in this blog post… I love RXBAR all on my own regardless of any sponsored products or partnerships!
